How to check an image
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file no larger than 4 MB and at least 256 × 256 pixels for a live scan. Animated images are not supported. Select Analyze image, then review the signal and any metadata evidence returned by the provider. Prefer the original file over a screenshot when you have it.
An AI photo checker with context
Use the image checker when reviewing a photo, illustration or image shared online. The result can help guide your review, but cannot certify that an event happened or that a person or object is real. A genuine photograph can still be shared with a misleading caption.
Can it identify the image generator?
A detection signal does not establish that a particular generator made the image. AI Checker does not promise identification of Midjourney, DALL·E, Gemini or other models. Consider any provenance information separately from the model’s visual assessment.
Does missing metadata mean the image is AI-generated?
No. Metadata can be absent from both camera photos and generated images. A screenshot or re-export can discard information. Our report surfaces evidence supplied by the provider; it does not independently verify Content Credentials signatures or certify a chain of custody.
Can a detector miss an AI-generated image?
Yes. A low signal is not proof of a camera original. Editing, resizing and compression may affect a detector’s assessment. If the image matters, look for the original publisher, earlier appearances and corroborating evidence rather than relying on one score.
Does this check video or prove a deepfake?
This page analyzes still images. Video checking is coming soon; video uploads and analysis are not available yet. An image signal alone also does not prove face manipulation, identity fraud or any specific kind of editing.
